Holiday Spiced Lattice Pie Recipe
A beautiful, old-fashioned pie filled with warm spices, tender fruit, and a buttery crust — simple to make, stunning to serve.
Ingredients
For the Filling
6 cups apples (or mixed apples + pears), chopped
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup white sugar
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp cloves
¼ tsp allspice
2 tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
For the Crust
2 store-bought pie crusts (or homemade)
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 tbsp water
Sugar for sprinkling
Instructions
1️⃣ Make the Filling
Add chopped fruit to a large bowl.
Toss with sugars, lemon juice, spices, vanilla, salt, and cornstarch.
Let sit 10 minutes to release juices.
2️⃣ Prepare the Pie
Press one crust into a pie dish.
Pour fruit filling into the crust.
Cut the second crust into strips and weave into a lattice pattern.
Trim edges and crimp to seal.
3️⃣ Add Shine
Whisk egg + water.
Brush lattice gently.
Sprinkle sugar on top.
4️⃣ Bake
Bake at 400°F (205°C) for 20 minutes.
Reduce heat to 350°F (175°C) and bake another 35–45 minutes, until golden and bubbling.
Cool at least 1 hour before slicing.
